Nabothian Cysts
⚫Definition :
A Nabothian cyst is a mucus filled cyst on the surface of the cervix.
⚫Synonym :
▪ Nabothian follicles
▪ Epithelial cysts,
▪ Mucinous retention cysts.
⚫ Sizes :
Cysts গুলো সাধারণত ২ মিমি থেকে শুরু করে কয়েক মিমি ব্যসের হয় এবং এগুলোতে Mucus থাকে, যা ফ্যকাশে হলুদ থেকে অ্যাম্বার পর্যন্ত বর্ণ ধারণ করে।
⚫ Symptoms :
এই Cyst গুলো ব্যথা, অস্বস্তি বা অন্যান্য কোনো উপসর্গের লক্ষণ দেখায় না।
যদি Period চলাকালীন সময় রক্তপাতের সাথে অন্যান্য Unusual discharge / Pelvic pain হয়, তবে রোগীর এ ব্যাপারে ডাক্তারের সাথে কথা বলা উচিত, কারণ এটি সংক্রমণ বা অন্যান্য অস্বাভাবিকতা নির্দেশ করতে পারে।
⚫Causes :
Nabothian cysts form when the mucus producing glands in the cervix are coated with skin cells and become clogged. The skin cells plug the glands which causes mucus to accumulate. This causes a cyst to form on the cervix that looks like a small, white bump.
1. During child birth, excess skin cells can grow on the mucus gland and trap mucus, causing cyst to form.
2. Physical trauma around the cervix can cause excess tissue to develop on the top of mucus glands during the healing process and trap mucus which can cause these cysts.
⚫Diagnosis of Nabothian cysts :
Nabothian cysts can be screened and diagnosed during a pelvic examination.
Ultrasonography of L/A ( Lower abdomen) or TVS (Transvaginal ultrasound)
Colposcopy, biopsy also done to diagnose it.
⚫Treatment :
Nabothian Cysts হচ্ছে Benign এবং সাধারণত এর কোনো চিকিৎসার প্রয়োজন হয় না।
এটি সংখ্যায় একাধিক হলে চিকিৎসকের জন্য Cervix Examine করা কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে। তখন চিকিৎসার প্রয়োজন হয়।
