Discussion on Thoracic Vertebrae (Part-01)

আজকে আমরা thoracic vertebrae সম্পর্কে জানবো। নাম শুনেই বোঝা যাচ্ছে thoracic vertebrae এর location। হ্যাঁ, thoracic region এ থাকে thoracic vertebrae। 

◾ আমাদের দেহে কয়টি thoracic vertebrae আছে?

➡ 12 টি।

এর মধ্যে 7 টি typical thoracic vertebrae (2nd to 8th) এবং 5 টি atypical thoracic vertebrae (1st, 9th to 12th)।

◾ Typical & atypical thoracic vertebrae মানে কী?

➡ আমরা জানি 2nd to 8th thoracic vertebrae হচ্ছে typical thoracic vertebrae। কারণ এদের সবার কিছু common feature আছে।

Atypical মানে এদের কিছু  special feature আছে। যার জন্য আমরা এদের atypical thoracic vertebrae বলে থাকি।

আজকে আমরা শুধু typical thoracic vertebrae নিয়ে বলবো।

◾ কীভাবে আমরা বুঝবো এটা typical thoracic vertebrae? 

➡ • Heart shaped body.

• It bears two costal demifacets on each side of the body.

• Transverse process present costotransverse facet.

• Circular vertebral foramen.

◾ Thoracic vertebrae এর anatomical points এ আমরা কী বলবো?

➡ 1. Heart shaped body lies anteriorly.

2. Vertebral arch lies posteriorly. 

3. Long transverse process lies backwards and laterally. 

4. Spinous process lies downwards and posteriorly. 

◾ Thoracic vertebrae এর part কী কী আছে? 

2 part:

1. Vertebral body. 

2. Vertebral arch.

এই vertebral arch এর আবার 3 part আছে।

1. Two pedicles.

2. Two lamines.

3. Seven processes.

Seven process এর মধ্যে আছে:

• Two transverse processes. 

• One spinous process.

• Four articular processes.

এবার আমরা articulation টা জেনে নিবো।

Typical thoracic vertebrae এর 7 টা articulation আছে। 

◾ এবার আমরা জানবো এই thoracic vertebrae কার সাথে articulation করবে, joint name কী হবে এবং কী variety joint হবে।

1. Superior surface of the body articulates করবে উপরের vertebrae এর inferior surface of the body এর সাথে।    এখানে joint name হচ্ছে intervertebral joint। এটা secondary cartilaginous joint।

2. Inferior surface of the body articulates করবে নিচের vertebrae এর superior surface of the body এর সাথে। এখানেও joint name হচ্ছে intervertebral joint। এটাও secondary cartilaginous joint. 

3. Superior articular process articulates করবে উপরের vertebrae এর inferior articular process এর সাথে। এখানে joint name হচ্ছে facet joint। এটা plane variety of synovial joint। 

4. Inferior articular process articulates করবে নিচের vertebrae এর superior articular process এর সাথে। এখানেও joint name হচ্ছে facet joint। এটাও Plane variety of synovial joint।

5. Upper costal facet of the body articulates করবে যতো number vertebrae ততো number rib এর head এর সাথে। এখানে joint name হচ্ছে costovertebral joint। এটা plane variety of synovial joint। 

6. Lower costal facet articulates করবে যতো number vertebrae ততো number rib এর নিচের rib এর head এর সাথে। এখানেও joint name হচ্ছে costovertebral joint। এটাও plane variety of synovial joint। 

7. Transverse process articulates করবে যতো number vertebrae ততো number rib এর tubercle এর সাথে। এখানে joint name হচ্ছে costotransverse joint। এটা plane variety of synovial joint। 

◾ Vertebral body and vertebral arch কে connect করে কে?

➡ Pedicle.

◾ Vertebral foramen and vertebral canal এর মধ্যে পার্থক্য কী?

➡ একটা vertebrae এর মধ্যে যে  foramen তাকে vertebral foramen বলে। 

আর এই vertebral foramen ই vertebral canel হবে যদি একের অধিক vertebrae একসাথে যুক্ত হয়।

◾Vertebral canal এর content কী?

➡ Spinal cord and its meninges.

◾ Intervertebral foramen এর content কী?

➡ Spinal nerve.

◾ Spinal nerve টা কীভাবে formation হয়?

➡ spinal cord এর ventral and dorsal root যুক্ত হয়ে।

◾ Spinal nerve এর length কতো? 

➡ 1cm.

◾ দুইটা vertebrae এর মাঝে কী থাকে?

➡ Fibrocartilage. 

◾ Fibrocartilage এর structure কী?

➡ Centrally থাকে nucleus pulposus।

Peripherally থাকে annulus fibrosus।

◾ Vertebrae কোথা থেকে develop করে? 

➡ Vertebrae somite থেকে develop করে। Somite derives from paraxial mesoderm.

◾ Vertebrae টা morphologically কী type bone?

➡ Irregular bone.

কিন্তু body of the vertebrae কে modified long bone বলা হয়। 

◾ কেনো বলা হয়? 

➡ কারণ weight transmit করে।

◾ Attachment :

1. Body র upper and lower border এ attach হবে anterior longitudinal ligament (on anterior aspect) and posterior longitudinal ligament (on posterior aspect)

2. Transverse process এ attach হবে costotransverse ligament। 

3. Spinous process এ attach হবে supraspinous and infraspinous ligaments। 

4. Laminae তে attach হবে ligamentum flavum।

Muscle attachment of spinous process:

1. Trapezius

2. Rhomboid major and rhomboid minor

3. Latissimus dorsi

4. Serratus posterior superior 

5. Serratus posterior inferior 

6. Multifidus

7. Sacrospinalis

8. Semispinalis capitis.
