Injury চাপ্টারটা পড়া শেষ করে উঠলাম মাত্র, মা নাস্তার জন্য ডাকছেন।
তখনি বাইরে চিৎকার চেঁচামেচির আওয়াজ শুনতে পেলাম। ভাইকে সহ নিয়ে বারান্দায় গিয়ে দেখতে পেলাম
এক রিক্সাওয়ালা অন্য রিক্সাওয়ালার সাথে ঝগড়া করছে কারণ উনারা কেউ কাউকে সাইড দেন নি। হঠাৎ-ই তাদের মধ্যে একজন অন্যজনের দিকে ইট ছুঁড়ে মারলেন।
আনমনেই বলে ফেললাম Battery। ভাই তা শুনে হেসে বললো “কি battery? Pencil battery?”
বললাম: “না, এই যে উনার ইট ছুঁড়ে মারার কারণে অপর জন ব্যথা পেলো, এটাকে মেডিকেল সায়েন্সে Battery বলে”
ভাই: ওমা! এ তো injury হবে,Battery কেন হবে?
তখন বললাম: নাহ, Injury, Hurt, Wound, Battery এগুলো প্রত্যেকটাই ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ব্যাপার।
ভাই: Hurt, wound ও?
আমি: হু, জানতে চাস?
ভাই: অবশ্যই তবে সহজ করে বলবে কিন্তু।
আমি: আয় তাহলে।
শুন,
“Injury is defined in law as any harm, whatever illegally caused to any person in body, mind, reputation and property”
ভাই: Reputation, property? কিন্তু আমরা তো ভাবতাম শরীরে আঘাত পেলেই তা Injury।
আমি: উহু, শুধু শরীরের আঘাতের কথা বললে তা হয়ে যাবে Hurt।
ভাই: Clearly বলো তো।
আমি: “Hurt may be defined as bodily pain, disease or infirmity to any person”
Hurt আবার দু’রকম ও হতে পারে।
ভাই: যেমন?
আমি: 1.Simple hurt
2.Grievous hurt.
ভাই: Grievous hurt কখন হয়?
আমি-
অনেকগুলো কারণে হতে পারে, যেমন-
- Emasculation-Deprivation of masculinity of a male.
- Permanent privation of sight of either eye.
- Permanent privation of hearing of either ear.
- Privation of any part of the body which has a distinct function or joint.
- Destruction or permanent impairing of the powers of any member or joint.
- Permanent disfiguration of the head or face, e.g.-By acid throwing.
- Fracture or dislocation of a bone or teeth,
e.g.-By a blow & loss of teeth. - Any hurt which endangers life, or which causes the victim to be in severe bodily pain, or unable to follow his ordinary pursuits for a period of 20 days.
ভাই: “Unable to follow his ordinary pursuits for a period of 20 days ” বলতে কি বুঝানো হলো?
আমি: এর মানে হলো, “The person must be unable for 20days to go to the toilet by himself, taking bath by himself, or taking food by himself, apart from being unable to do his other routine works”
ভাই: Grievous hurt এর জন্য বুঝি কোন শাস্তি নেই?
আমি: অবশ্যই আছে।
➡ 07 years imprisonment with or without fine.
➡ If deadly weapon is used punishment will be 10years with or without fine.
ভাই: এখন বলো তো Injury হলে কি কি কারণে মারা যেতে পারে?
আমি: Causes of death due to injuries are –
1) Hemorrhagic shock
2) Neurogenic shock
3) Injury to vital organ
4) A combination of any of these.
ভাই: এবার তোমার Battery এর কথা বলো?
আমি-হেহে, শুন-
“Battery means beating or wounding another person including mere touch of fingers with an evil motive”
Examples are-
⬇ Throwing of stone at a person
⬇ Wife battery, child battery
ভাই: আর যদি এতে সে ব্যথা না পায়?
আমি: তবে সেটা হবে Assault।
ভাই: কিভাবে?
আমি: “Attack upon a person by another person with evil motive,whether it injures him physically or not”
ভাই: তাহলে তো ব্যাপারটা দাঁড়ালো, “If the assault is successful then it is battery”
আমি: Yes and all the battery are assaults but all assaults are not battery.
ভাই: সব তো বুঝলাম, তাহলে Wound এর কথাও বলো?
আমি: “Wound may be defined as a break or breach or natural continuity of any tissue of living body irrespective of the breach of skin or mucous membrane”
কিন্তু এর আবার Surgical definition ও আছে
ভাই: বলো, শুনি?
আমি: “Wound is defined as any injury in which there must be breach of continuity of skin”
এই wound কে আবার তিন ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়, শুনতে চাস?
ভাই: অবশ্যই।
আমি: ঠিক আছে শুন,
1) Medical wounds
2) Legal wounds
3) Medicolegal wounds
🔴 Medical wounds
1) Wounds caused by hard blunt weapon or fall on hard subjects
➡ Abrasion
➡ Contusion or bruise
➡ Lacerated wound
➡ Fracture or dislocation
2) Wounds caused by sharp cutting weapon-
➡ Incised or slash wound.
➡ Puncture or stab wound.
3) Wounds caused by sharp pointed weapon
➡ Penetrating wound
➡ Non penetrating wound
4) Firearm wounds
➡ Gun shots
➡ Bomb blast
3) Thermal wounds
➡ Due to cold, eg, frostbite, trench foot, etc
➡ Due to heat, e.g burn (dry heat), scald (moist heat)
6) Chemical wounds
➡ Acid burn
➡ Alkali burn
➡ Salt
7) Injury caused by electricity, lighting, ionising, radiation, X-ray, UV ray, infrared ray.

1) Simple &
2) Grievous
🔴 Medico-legal wounds
1) Suicidal or self-inflicted wound
2) Homicidal wound or wound inflicted by others
3) Accidental wound
4) Defence wound
5) Fabricated wound

ভাই: বলো কি প্রশ্ন?
আমি: বল তো Injury and wound er difference কি?
ভাই: Injury can be caused to body or mind or both body & mind but wound can be caused only to the body, এটা?
আমি: Yes, এটাই।
So all wounds are injury but not all injury are wounds।
